The Ethereum community is gearing up for the highly anticipated Shanghai upgrade that will enable withdrawals of staked ETH tokens, which is expected to arrive on April 12 at block 6209536. Ethereum lead developer Tim Beiko shared the confirmed date on Twitter, which represents a slight delay compared to the March deadline targeted in December 2021.
The upgrade will boost the Ethereum network by attracting more stakers, which could ultimately benefit the price of ETH. However, some critics remain skeptical about the network's ability to enable such withdrawals, and one Bitcoiner even entered a bet for a tungsten cube with popular crypto investor Eric Wall, who is confident that withdrawals will happen. Despite the skepticism, the Ethereum community is hopeful for the successful implementation of the Shanghai hard fork.
