The wedding of Singaporean couple Joanne Tham and Clarence Chan, CEO of music firm Bandwagon, took place in a digital version of Singapore's iconic Alkaff Mansion on Saturday with a "70s disco glam" motif.

The couple and some guests were physically present at a hotel location, while others that attended remotely were able to view their digital avatars in The Sandbox metaverse. Sebastien Borget, co-founder and chief operations officer of The Sandbox, presided over the event as an online avatar.

After sharing their first kiss as husband and wife in the Metaverse, the pair logged out and continued their honeymoon in the real world.

The wedding was a joint effort between Web3 design studio, Smobler Studios, 1-Group, and The Sandbox, which recreated the look and feel of the iconic Alkaff Mansion. 1-Group oversees its equivalent, a mansion in the real world.
