Vitalik Buterin's Associated Wallet Dump $3.75 Million Worth of Ethereum

There are disputes about who owns this wallet. Transactions were made from this wallet to the wallets of Vitalik Buterin, a well-known in the field, co-founder of Ethereum

Over the past weekend, November 12-13, 3,000 ETH was traded from the wallet. The currency was converted into USD-backed stablecoins via Uniswap. Shortly before the transaction, FTX filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States.

According to Etherscan data, three transactions of 1.000 ETH went through the Uniswap exchange in order to be further split into denominations of different stablecoins. Various parts of this amount were converted to USDC, USDT, DAI, and wrapped in Bitcoin, but in the end, everything was converted to USDC

Evan Van Ness, an Ethereum developer, asked Buterin about this information, and Vitalik responded that the wallet does not belong to him. This statement caused a wave of discussion, in which there were opinions that this wallet is connected by several transactions with other Buterin wallets. For example, it received several transactions from Vitalik's doxed address, as well as a transaction from the vb2 wallet, which also belongs to the co-founder of Ethereum.

"The VitalikAddress Truthers confound me. Either I'm lying or Vitalik is lying. If I'm lying, Vitalik can easily disprove it with a tweet. I lose a lot of reputation. If Vitalik is lying, it's the dumbest thing in the world to lie about,” replied a confused Van Ness.

Buterin was vocal about Sam Bankman-Fried on LaBitConf 2022, which took place in Argentina last week, “This year we’ve seen a huge number of things that break because they have a model that is fundamentally bad.” He also compared SBF to a “1930s dictator” in regard to his cult of personality.

The mysterious wallet still has almost $3.3 million in ETH. According to the OpenSea profile bound to it, it owns a domain name acquired in May 2022 from a transfer that also may be owned by Buterin. Another wallet, related to Vitalik.eth, transferred 180 ETH and USDT for the amount of $8.500 to another wallet and then to a Kraken exchange.

Like many other major cryptocurrencies, Ethereum has fallen 21% over the past week. According to CoinGecko, the market capitalization of Ethereum is now $1,234 compared to last week’s $1,605.
