RTFKT Studios, a division of the American sportswear company Nike, has unveiled a preview of their forthcoming Real-life Cryptokick Sneakers. Similar to the Nike Air Mags from 2015 that were made for "Back to the Future Day," the RTFKT Cryptokick Sneakers have a futuristic design.
The Blockchain CEO at Ernst & Young says they want to be "the best on earth at Ethereum," and the CEO of Celsius withdrew $10 million before the freeze to pay taxes are other recommended reads.
The shoes are similar to the Nike basketball shoes. The SneakerCon-released video has led some to speculate that the sneaker may use Nike's Adapt technology. The Nike Adapt technology has a self-lacing capability, again reminiscent of the Air Mag from Back to the Future.
A sizable portion of the audience expressed their displeasure, noting that the preview makes the final product seem like a rushed prototype. Although Sole Retriever has not confirmed a specific date, they have said that the release will occur before the end of the year. Users would presumably need to own an RTFKT NFT of some type in order to buy the $300 shoes, which will be dubbed Cryptokicks.
In April, Nike held an auction for their first NFT shoe series, "CryptoKicks," with bids exceeding $100,000. With the imminent release of the first-ever, actual CryptoKick footwear, Nike is ready to astound its devoted following with a game-changing first in the sneaker industry.
